Live on the event floor at Glee Birmingham at the NEC, Charles, Urban Wyrm’s affiliated partner, and Chris Holgreaves, one of Urban Wyrm’s directors, joined Phil Wright, co-founder of the creative agency WrightObara and gardening expert Kate Turner to discuss the power of worm casts.
“I did a couple of trays of lettuce [using Urban Wyrm products] in the summertime and I was immediately struck by steady growth and how it carried on,” said Charles.
“I also have a wormery so I’m very aware of how valuable worm casts are and the amazing growth you get from using them.”
Charles has used worm casts for 3 years and hasn’t had to feed any of his plants in this time. Worm casts are full of live bacteria and micronutrients which improve your soil health, reducing your need to feed.
Kate asked Chris whether the worms are ‘free range’ - which they are! Chris assured Kate that the 11 million worms that help to make Ubran Wyrm worm cast products are left to do what they do best.
As Chris, Charles, Phil and Kate wrapped up their conversations, Urban Wyrm was surprised by a well-deserved win of Sustainable Product of the Year with their worm-cast-enriched compost, Black Gold Organic.
